Plight

The darkness of anarchy. No unified government. No healthcare system, so most people get 48 years to live. No free or required education, so 5.2 million children receive NO formal learning. Immense and widespread poverty. No national security, so militias and rebels can rape and slaughter families without fear. The Congo-DRC ranks the worst country according to the Human Development Index. 

Orphans fare poorly even in the best of countries, but the plight of the Congolese orphan is devastating. Malnutrition, preventable disease, no resources, no home; vulnerable to wicked people.  There are over 4 million Congolese orphans. What a haunting picture. 

Almighty God, you call yourself Father to the Fatherless. I cannot fathom how deeply you care for the Congolese orphans. Because of your love for them, let us adopt 2 children. You said, "God provides homes for those who are deserted." Let our family be a home for 2 deserted children. Display concretely for our family, for our church, for the world that you ARE the Father to the Fatherless, and you are true to your word. Let your name be held in honor by all through accomplishing our adoption.
